Farewell and preparations

The day before yesterday was my official goodbye at my workplace. The farewell was well organized and pleasant, and I received many positive messages from colleagues and also received several thoughtful gifts. Because I had shared at work that we have a beautiful view in Galicia with long sightlines, the team presented me with a pair of binoculars. In addition, I received flowers, cards, WhatsApp messages, a package with Spanish delicacies, and a gift voucher. Much appreciated!

During my final shift, I wore jeans instead of my uniform and was given sufficient time to personally say goodbye to (almost) all colleagues. This made the transition both calm and meaningful.

The gift voucher, together with the Christmas bonus, was used to purchase a new drone. I currently own a DJI Neo, a compact drone capable of producing high-quality footage. Due to its low weight, however, wind has a noticeable impact on stability at higher altitudes, which often requires additional post-processing. The new drone, a Potensic Atom 2, is equipped with a gimbal, and I therefore expect improved stability and image quality. In Galicia, I plan to visit various locations to capture footage, which will be published on this website.

The process of clearing out our home is progressing according to schedule. The attic has been emptied, items have been donated to the thrift store, and the living room is filled with moving boxes containing belongings that will be passed on to our son. On Friday, a final visit to the recycling center is planned to dispose of a cabinet. On the same day, Yvonne’s Fiat 500 will be taken to the garage to be traded in.

A large part of the household contents has already been sold, and our eldest son will take the remaining items. These will be collected on January 10. This aligns well with our stay at a holiday park in Borger, which starts on January 9. Appointments for new passports and for deregistration in the Netherlands have been scheduled, and all subscriptions, insurance policies, and related arrangements have been canceled.

Finally, visitors can now respond to blog posts on this website. A WordPress plugin has been implemented to prevent spam, which has been tested successfully and is functioning as intended.
