Two years ago, while on holiday in the Algarve, the idea of emigrating to Portugal first sparked in our minds. Why? Because the peace and nature of the region deeply resonated with us, especially when compared to the Netherlands, which, in our opinion, is increasingly becoming a rat race.

Finding a home with peace and space in the Netherlands has become virtually unaffordable. Due to soaring house prices in Portugal, our search gradually shifted further north. After a few “scouting” holidays, we ultimately chose Galicia, where we have purchased a renovated house with a magnificent view!

We are excited to announce that we will officially become residents of Galicia starting in January 2026. A new beginning… actually, a complete life reboot. It’s exciting, challenging, and yet, we are incredibly enthusiastic about it!

The purpose of this blog is to take you along on our journey—from the final preparations for the move to our daily life once we are settled. We will also be posting about Galicia in general, and sharing insights into our hobbies: Yvonne’s photography and Michel’s drone flying.
