How did our first two weeks in Galicia go?

Well—busy.

Coming from the Netherlands, we're used to the idea that all of life’s basic needs are taken care of by the state. But in Galicia, things work a bit differently.

We bought a house that only had an electricity connection. Water comes from a well, gas from bottles. And since we’re new to the region, we’ve had to figure out a lot of things ourselves.

Where do you get gas?
How do you set up internet?
Is the water safe to drink?
And many more questions like that.

But—true to our nature—we rolled up our sleeves and simply got started.

In the end, the Galician people have been incredibly kind and helpful. They’ve gone out of their way to guide us and help us figure things out.
