You may have noticed already, but there’s a breath of fresh air sweeping through the website. I’ve been working hard behind the scenes recently to make everything faster, cleaner and more accessible. Here’s a quick update on what’s changed.
We’re going international!
I’m seeing more and more sign-ups coming in from the US, Canada and other English-speaking countries. That’s absolutely brilliant! To make the site easy for them to read too, the website is now bilingual.
At first, I used a plugin that translated everything automatically, but let’s be honest: those translations were sometimes a bit odd. That’s why I’ve installed a new plugin and will be doing the translations manually. It takes a bit more time, but at least I can be sure the story is accurate.
The first two English-language blog posts are now live!
From now on, every new post will appear in two languages straight away.
The old posts will be translated one by one over the coming weeks.
A clean mailing list
The mailing list has also had a big spring clean. It turned out there were quite a few ‘ghost addresses’ in the list (think of addresses like aaa@bb.com). These emails always bounced straight back, so I’ve filtered them out. This keeps the list clean and ensures I only reach the people who actually want to read along.
A bit of a “silly, silly, silly” mistake on my part
You may have noticed that you didn’t receive a newsletter about the latest blog posts last week. The reason is simple: I’d forgotten to take my login details with me when I was out and about… a real beginner’s mistake! I’ve regained access now, so the updates are back on track.
Faster and a new look
Finally, you may have already noticed: we have a new logo! I’ve also fixed a few stubborn bugs under the bonnet. The result? The site should load a lot faster for everyone.
That’s all for now. As soon as there’s any news, you’ll read it here!
Thanks for reading and for your patience whilst I’ve been tinkering.
