Between Two Worlds

As I mentioned in a previous post—what now? We find ourselves with two homes: one in Galicia and one in the Netherlands. After much thought, we’ve made a big decision: we’re putting our Dutch home up for sale and planning to settle in Galicia for good.

As you can probably imagine, things are quite hectic for us at the moment. We’re in the thick of preparations for the house sale. Right now, it’s July 2nd, and many people in the Netherlands are either already on vacation or busy getting ready for it. Selling a house during this time might not be the smartest move, since most people aren’t actively house hunting—they’re more focused on sunscreen and suitcases. So we’ll likely wait until the holiday season is over.

Still, with the current housing shortage in the Netherlands, we expect our home will sell fairly quickly—especially because of its location. We live right by a recreational lake, and that’s a big plus.

In the meantime, we’re busy decluttering. And wow—it’s amazing how much stuff you collect over the years that you really don’t need. Letting go of it all feels good, but it’s definitely a process.

Our house in Galicia is fully furnished. While the furniture isn’t exactly our style, everything works and it’s comfortable, so we’re making it work for now.

Big changes are ahead, and yes—it’s a little overwhelming at times. But it also feels like the start of something new and exciting. A fresh chapter, under Spanish skies
