A week of technical hiccups and a lesson learned

This week, things went a little sideways behind the scenes. Time for an honest update.

We decided to switch to a new newsletter provider. Our previous one was fine, technically — but it was built for slick, commercial campaigns, and that’s simply not our style. We wanted something simpler, more personal.

The switch turned out to be more of an adventure than expected.

Setting up a new newsletter provider means making changes to your website’s DNS records — the settings that tell the internet where your site lives and where your emails should go. One small mistake in those settings, and things start to unravel quickly. Which is exactly what happened.

The site went offline for a while. Mail stopped working. Any emails sent to us during that period never arrived — and for that, we’re genuinely sorry. If you reached out and didn’t hear back, please try again.

Once we tracked down the error and fixed it, the site came back online — but with a slightly different IP address. That means some visitors may notice the site loading a little slower than usual while the internet catches up with the new address. That should resolve itself over the next day or two.

It was quite a puzzle to work through, but we got there in the end.

Thanks for your patience and a good reminder that even a simple switch is rarely as simple as it looks.

We’ve noticed that our website has been attracting a growing number of visitors from English-speaking countries. Great news! To make sure everyone gets the best possible experience, we’ve taken an important step forward.

We’ve installed the Polylang plugin. Thanks to this plugin, the website automatically adapts to the visitor’s browser language. If your browser is set to English, the entire site will appear in English. If it’s set to Dutch, you’ll see everything in Dutch — just as before.

No menus, no extra steps. The website detects your language preference automatically and adjusts right away.

And there’s more. Our newsletter is following suit. The next edition will be sent out in two languages for the very first time: both in Dutch and in English. That way, no one will miss an update — wherever you’re from.

Have questions about this change, or want to sign up for our newsletter? Feel free to get in touch!
